La Paz, Bolivia - The Air is Thin

We arrived in La Paz after 16 hours of flight very early this morning. Our flight was delayed in Lima, Peru for 2 hours which resulted in a 2 am arrival to Bolivia. We travelled from LA to San Salvador, to Lima, to La Paz. Upon arrival we learned that a new change requires American travellers to have an entry visa and pay $135 each in cash! The paperwork took another hour, the customs guys were very pleasant. We were the last off the plane and by the time we left the airport it was deserted. Even so, taxi's at 3am clamored for our trip down into La Paz from the city of El Alto above. We enjoyed the ride down with our taxi guy Carlos. He may take us to Copacobana and <lake Titicaca tomorrow. Breakfast came much too early this morning at 9am. Great breakfast though, omelettes, fresh fruit, , cereal, croissants, juice and of course mate de coca. We huff and puff a bit but other than that no major effects from the altitude. Today we plan to see La Paz. It is a beautifful city! We were unsuccessful this morning in uploading a picture or two, the pc won't recognize Tyson{s camera. We will work on that today. Hopefully resolution by tonight. We hope to get a good night sleep later tonight as we are all a little foggy this morning.
